Why won't registration form accept the product ID that is presented in the About box?

That function seems to be broken (still, again, whatever...).

All registration does is put you on the MacBU mailing list. Forget it.

As JE McGimpsey responded to the first post in this thread [but in my
terms]:

*Don't Bother!*

"Registration" has *nothing* to do with the operation of the software -
unlike the *Activation* required for MS Windows software. It's little more
than a marketing tool.

I suspect the problems you're all having to be caused by the current FUBAR
state of the ["new & improved"]Mactopia web site. Give it a rest, use the
software as desired, & get on the mailing list later if you choose to do
so - you can "register" at any time:-)

Ring your closest Microsoft Office (or use the toll-free number). The
registration mechanism is broken...

Huh? What does this have to do with Office?

The Web site is apparently screwed up. You can try with Firefox, but I
wouldn't bother - the *only* thing registration does is put you on a
list for an email newsletter.

Same problem here - I called Microsoft Support and they don't support product registration issues. I used Firefox

Pardon me.
I was following Microsoft's instructions. Microsoft directed me to a Microsoft contractor.
So I stand corrected "Buggy website run by a contractor" to which I was directed by Microsoft.
Now I am am getting keychain error messages which I did not receive prior to the registration failure of Office:mac 2008. Is this a coincidence or are others receiving keychain error messages asking for reversion to keychain default settings?

Buggy web site. Ignore it - the *only* thing registration does is put

Buggy website run by a contractor. Might be MS software, more likely
not.

However, for future reference, to use this newsgroup "right", it would
be helpful to keep the subject line the same, or quote what you're
referring to.

In any case, glad you got a chance to vent...

Don't know about keychain, but the registration site has been hosed all
week.

if you're just trying to register Office, don't bother. All registration
does (ALL!) is sign you up for a electronic newsletter.

Registration is never necessary with Mac Office.
