Post subject: How to know the original location of the contents of the Trash Folder?
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>system (more info?)

Dear friends:

How to know the original location of the contents of the Trash Folder?

I check the contents of my Trash Folder about twice a week, and
sometimes, I want to restore some of it to their original folder, but
how is possible to know where they were originally stored?

I miss a menu option like the similar one in Windows: "Restore to the
original folder".

Thanks

Note: Please forgive me for my bad English, I am trying to improve it!

I don't think it's possible, sorry.

Mac actually had that option long before Windows 95, but it was dropped
in Mac OS X for some reason.

True. Once the information is no longer in the Finder's undo-list it is
lost. If you don't want to delete something, don't put it in the Trash.

Probably because it never was in OS X or any of its ancestors.
I miss "Put Away" too.
Perhaps they will re-appear some day.
