Post subject: "This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage"

My Entourage 2004 Main Identity is evidently corrupted. I can rebuild the
database, but I cannot open the Entourage application with the rebuilt
Identity in place. The program freezes at the splash screen if opened
normally. If I try launching the Database file itself, I get the message:
"This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage."

Does anyone know of a way to correct this problem without losing my entire
Entourage database?

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.3. Since there was a database
format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in
Entourage 11.3.3.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.
See ³Confused over Microsoft Update Version numbers?³ for a handy script
that gives you the Office application¹s version info.

So then put 2 and 2 together:

You need to update your installed copy of Entourage to match the version
of your database.

This isn't rocket science.
