Post subject: iChatAV Problem Defies Reason

I have setup five iMacs (2 G4s and 3 G5s) at five different locations.
All systems have 10.4.4 installed, iSight cameras, and cable Internet
service with routers. All iMacs can audio/video conference successfully
with each other through iChatAV except that the two G4 iMacs won't.
They attempt the connection, and each of us can actually see the other
for a few seconds until iChatAV displays the message

Failed to start Video Chat because:

AccountName did not respond.

All five of the iMacs successfully connect to the Apple test site too.

Any thoughts on this?

The third sentence should have ended as:

. . . except that the two G4 iMacs won't connect to each other.

I had a similar problem that turned out to be a firewall issue. It was
only resolved when the SysAd tried every port in turn until he found the
one that needed to be opened. It turned out to be one that was not
listed on Apple's site as being required to allow iChat to work.

Hi

Would it be possible for you to mail me what ports you opened up for iChat
to work.

Many thanks

Marc
