I am new to Mac's and fink, but I'm trying to install some software
that is supposed to be OK for OSX 10.4. The ./configure script works
until it checks the version of GLib and complains that V2.0.0 is
required as a minimum.

I have fink installed and all packages are up-to-date. However the
GLib version there is 1.2.10-50 where the latest version elsewhere on
the internet is 2.x.x. I also have glib2 listed as version 2.6.6-1113
but that is a "different" package.

How can I get fink to install the latest version of GLib?

Thanks

Susan

I have the latest version of Fink installed and it has everything up-
to-date as well.

When I do a listing of packages, GLib is listed as version 1.x whereas
I know that 2.x is available.

Some of the software I'm trying to install fails because it requires
GLib 2.0.0 or later.

As I'm new to fink (and Mac's in general) what (if anything) I'm doing
wrong? How can I get Glib 2.0.0 or later into the library?

(I note that Glib2 is at version 2.x, but it also has quite a
different description)

Thanks

Susan

Try:
sudo port install glib2

Hope this helps,

Itamar,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I get an error message saying
sudo: port: command not found

Also, my issue is with Glib, not Glib2. Pardon my ignorance of such things (as
I said, I'm just trying to get started), but are GLib and GLib2 the same or
different libraries - the "fink list" command shows them with very different
version numbers and descriptions?

Thanks

Susan
