I have Windows Vista and Microsoft Word 2007. I was unable to view docx so I
installed compatibility pack. I am still unable to view them. Any ideas?

The .docx file format is native to Word 2007 -- no compatibility pack
necessary.

Unfortunately, you've posted in a Macintosh newsgroup and if you're
having problems opening native file formats then you might need more
help than you'll find here. I suggest you post in the
microsoft.public.word newsgroup or a similar newsgroup for Office for
Windows.

Rocky-

You might have a corrupted file.

Another program that should be able to open .docx, is Open Office.
Download it at
<http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#en-US>

DOCx is native to Office 2007 and has nothing to do with Vista. The
compatibility pack should install only for Office 2003..

If he is using Office 2004 on the Mac, there is indeed a "compatibility pack"
that attempts conversion of docx files to doc files for Office 2004. Maybe
the file is corrupt?
