My best friend who is rather computer naive lives on the West coast
and has an iMac G5. I live on the East Coast and have a Pentium IV
PC. We both have X-Plane 8.15 but setting up and running X-Plane
requires a degree of computer skill that is beyond her cappability.

So, are there any combat flight simulators, other than X-Plane,
that can be played over their internet by both iMac and PC users?
Preferably one that is plug and play, and does not require copying
files about and working through page after page of setup menus
to get the game up and running to its full potential?

I can run under either Windows (2kP) or Linux.

Hmm, can't a G5 with OSX run Linux programs too?

I almost made that suggestion, but since I didn't I will second Rufus.
Hornet is a very easy sim to fly. I started with v.2 about 10 years ago and
flew it for months just using a mouse and keyboard (not that I am
recommending doing that with the current version). For me, the hardest part
to master in the current version was the radar, and it's only tough if you
are trying to get maximum use out of it.

Rufus, what kinds of bugs does OIF have? Have you flown it yourself?

Yes - I bought a copy...and have been pretty disapointed in it. It's
been patched at least twice and still has bugs. Mostly associated with
various controllers.

The biggest bug I've encountered is that it won't recognize more than
one joystick type controller. What this means for me is that I can't
use my CH Stick, Pedals, and throttle with it because the Throttle also
has a joystick type controller on it - I like to use that one to control
views selection.

My set-up works fine for Korea...but I don't think Korea will run well
under Classic. At least I can't remember if I've tried it. I tried it
with Falcon, and that works - but I need to upgrade the graphics card in
my Sawtooth to support Open-GL graphics under Classic, I think.

Isn't it always ugly when the English try to act cool? You know, it always
comes off as plaid and wide lapels somehow. Tsk, tsk. How last season.

Hey, wait a second! *I* live on the West Coast and I can testify that we
have many nice and agreeable ladies here.

If it involves the BBC, it can't be very covert, now can it?

So? Don't be coy. It doesn't become you. Where does one look?
