Have you considered just using SMB/CIFS? It's built in.

What do you then recommend Enterprises with 5000 Users wich are productive
and collaborate with others, securely share Files, have a centralised
Managament??

Then I guess I'll have to agree with bill. However to my own defense -
by mentioning only one ("a") Windows 2003 Server you didn't exactly hint
the scale or context of your installation. I guess that server is one of
- quite a few...

Not clear on something. Why do you have to use AFP? Are you still using
Apple OS9 clients running AFP? The shares *should* be visible to your Macs
running TCP/IP shouldn't they? If so, why bother with AFP at all? Perhaps
the answer is simpler, in that you don't have to do what you are attempting
to do? Just trying to brainstorm the issue a bit. Assumptions are often
killers.

Hi Al!

I believe you're confusing AFP (a file sharing protocol) with AppleTalk
(a network communications protocol). AFP can run over AppleTalk or IP.

In my experience with AFP and SMB (Windows file sharing protocol) I've
found that SMB is OK for one or a few Macs needing to occasionally
connect to a Windows server but AFP is far more stable and faster for
prolonged use. I haven't tested yet with Leopard.

anything other than file sharing using SMB. So I stand corrected.
