You mean you hope their blog is accurate. His reading comprehension is
not in question.

Here is a quote from a letter from Bruce Lacey and Dave Nanian that was sent
to those of us who have been beta testers....
====================
After nearly 25 test releases since the beginning of the 2.5 test cycle, we
are pleased to make the official release of SuperDuper! 2.5 available
exclusively to our testers. We plan to make the 2.5 release available to the
general public Tuesday, February 5th so you can speak freely about the 2.5
feature set, test cycle, etc. upon receipt of this e-mail.
====================
The problems I encountered during the testing period were pretty much tied to
the backing up of Time Machine volumes. As the testing cycle moved on these
problems reduced. The latest version, the one I'm currently using and the one
to be released today, has proven to be quite reliable.

Wow! And what an update it is! SD 2.5 is the first backup program that
I have *ever* seen that will copy ACLs that have been inherited from a
parent folder. Nothing I have ever used before could do that. Not SD
2.1.4. Not Carbon Copy Cloner 3. Not Time Machine. Not Retrospect.
Not Disk Utility. Not even asr.
I am very very pleased with this release. SD saves the day!

I suppose I should have emphasized that I know what "Inherited" means,
and a quick Google shows that Microsoft at least has Access Control
Lists - which may be the same thing for Apple. But I don't know what
they mean to me - and specifically what a customer of one of the less
complete backup programs would lose.

What kind of metadata do directories have? Where are these metadata
stored? >> Stay informed about: SuperDuper update for Leopard |
