Is there any way to get Safari to apply a CSS file if the web page
author hasn't? I greatly dislike reaching for the scroll bar after
being fooled into thinking the LEFT edge is cutting off some text.

There's a place to select a CSS file, but it has no effect.
It's not a bug in the CSS file, because when I name it in
a META tag in my own pages, I get margins.

At Prefs->Advanced you can point it to a User Style Sheet.

Do your CSS rules include a !important statment?

Did that, I think.

No, but I don't want them used if the author specified a
style sheet. Just for the pages that have none, because
Safari's default rule for margins stinks.

It usually helps to make sure Wink

Makes sense.

FWIW, it works for me. I just tried again, to make sure, with a simple
User Style Sheet saying

* {margin: 1em}

Attached it to Safari through Prefs->Advanced. Safari (2.0, under Mac OS
X 10.4.0) honours it. But be warned that in order for Safari to see
changes you make to your CSS, you need to quit and relaunch Safari.
Sucks.

Yeah, it's there.

I'm 10.3.9 with Safari 1.2

Reload doesn't work?
It doesn't bother me with other browsers, 'cause they have
a window frame. Safari makes it look like pages without CSS
just fell out of the paper cutter.

I'm quite sure it should work there too.

Nope.

Well, next time I meet up with one of those #$%^$%^& sites,
I'll do something obvious to my CSS and reset Safari. Smile

Though I would think a non-zero left margin would be fairly obvious Smile
