Suddenly, for no apparent reason, File Services for Macintosh won't start on
a Windows 2000, SP 4 server. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the service and
rebooted with no luck. Macs are able to connect via SMB only. The only KB
article I can find that relates to that issue is one that mentions the hidden
shares being disabled, which is not the case here.

The error message is:
Windows could not start the file server for macintosh on local
computer.......service specific error 5.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Also suddenly, for no apparent reason, it started working again after a
couple more reboots.
