Hello again,

Here's what Apple say about replacing a hard drive in a G4 PB:

http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/pdf/pbg4/pbg4_hd-cip.pdf

However, my machine doesn't look like figure 2; i don't have those screws
all over the bottom of the case. I have a row of four at the back, and
then another ten around the edges. I have a separate hatch for the RAM. I
think i have what's known as a FW800 or 1.5 GHz PowerBook (it has a 1.5
GHz processor, and i think it has FW800 too, BICBW). I can't find
instructions for replacing the hard drive on those; can it be done? Has
someone written it up? Can i just undo all the screws and kind of muddle
along following the method above?

I'm going to find out how much it'd cost to get a qualified guy to do the
installation, but i'd like to do it myself if possible.

tom

that's the old powerbook g4 titanium.

no, the design is *totally* different and a lot trickier to open (in
particular, the clips), which is why apple doesn't have a how-to for
it.

it's probably worth having it done. the clips are a pain, and if you
bend/break them, the top lid won't properly fit.
