I thought you were responding to "it would be too bad if MT Newswatcher
development stops", not "moving their programs to an opensource
development".

No. I mean that, as I understood it, Northwestern's license limits
Simon's possibilities in picking a license for MT-NW.

IANAL and haven't read that license, but I recall multiple discussions
on this here in the past (in which Simon participated, I believe), that
concluded that Northwestern's license prohibits MT-NW from going open
source (as long as it contains original NewsWatcher code, of course).

No doubt Simon could make his own code open source. (How useful that
would be is another issue. I's probably quite interwoven with whatever
Norstad code still there.)

Thanks for digging that up. Glad to see there's nothing wrong with my
memory yet Smile

I suggest that the freeware aspect of MT-NW with an appreciated donation
isn't enough incentive. As far a Mr. Norstadt's full NW code is
involved, I downloaded it a few years ago and was intellectually
incapable of doing anything with it. I assume it's still freely
available if you can find it. And after all, Mr. Fraser has released an
update very recently FWIW.
