I'm sure many remember the old Apple Notebook - a little mini-app, once
called a "desk accessory". After it was abandonned by Apple, it was
taken up by Steve Harris. I used a beta version of his Notebook for
years, but it finally broke with Leopard. Does anyone know of a
substiitute? I do not want anything complicated - just a little
notepad to jot stuff in - a notepad that does not require any "Save"
process.

Thanks -

Cathy

I'm using an app that as far as I know never made it out of beta CocoaPad. It
works under Panther.

A quick VersionTracker search turned up this:

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20548

Product Description:
NotePad is a faithful reproduction of the functions available in the Mac OS 9
desk accessory Note Pad. This is not an attempt to build a better mouse trap;
there are many more feature rich apps out there. This is simply intended to
do only what the desk accessory from OS 9 did.

If this is the one that you have been using, perhaps one of the other note
pad programs listed on versiontracker might work.

If not, I would be happy to send you a copy of my CocoaPad program for you to
try.

Thanks very much, Stephen. Someone sent me a notepad which seems so
far works under Leopard. I appreciate the offer -

As a fan of notepad programs, and probably needing to use Leopard in the near
future, I am curious as to which program you ended up with.

Someone sent me an old freeware program called Fishpad. It is not the
final version but no version is available. Ifyou decode my email
address and email me, Iwill email you the little app.

You can also use the widget Note Pad and then use widget-to-desktop or
a similar utility (Amnesty) to convert it into a freestanding app. I
did not try this, but I will if Fishpad breaks.
