would this
http://computers.pricegrabber.com/laptop-memory/Crucial-4GB-PC2-5300-D...-SODIMM

work in macbook pro 3,1 ? I understanding that swapping both sodimms
for 8gb won't work.
Me thinks 1+4 is the way to go

this
http://tidbits.com/article/9839
claims 6gb 2+4 combo works fine

tnx

Looks fine to me.

According to all sources I've found, correct. The tested maximum is 6
GB.

With the option of upgrading the 1 to 2 later.

1+4 did not work as well as having a single 4gb stick in the machine.
makes me wonder if that module works at all.

coworker present at the time of the surgery commented
that the pins of one of the modules were covered with paper!!!
(I was not in the office at the time)

seems faster now that the hw does not have to struggle through the
paperwork :^]
2+2 kit is on the way

i still hope to make use of the 4gb stick though
