Yes...I know the post title begs the question - 'Why use a b****y USB modem
with a nice, new $hiny MacBook'. Well putting that to one side for a moment,
I'm unable to actually get it to work with my new MacBook.
The drivers/software installed from the CD fine. On restarting, plugging
the modem into the USB socket and going to System Preferences-Network I
*should* receive a 'New Port Detected' prompt, with the modem (Speedtouch
330) included in the Active Ports list. Needless to say, I don't.
It seems the modem isn't being detected. So I tried to configure manually
but it seems that this can't be done as I only have the option of ethernet,
bluetooth, Airport or VPN?
So I'm at a loss what to do. Unfortunately I don't have a firewire cable to
facilitate any direct connection with my iBook so can't try & obtain the
set-up from that.
If anyone could offer any assistance I would be fantastically grateful, as
unfortunately, buying the machine has cleaned me out for the moment so a new
ethernet modem isn't really an option for a few weeks
Hopefully Yours,
Jay
P.S 1st impressions post to follow (% by the way.....they're GOOD:o)
