Hi everyone,
does anyone know if it will be possible to purchase language packs for
the new Office 2008 so that the language can be changed. I currently
live in the US and will only be able to buy it in English, but want to
change to my native language German when I go back.
Thanks,

No, we (at least, *I*...) don't know that yet ‹ The German version is not
released yet.

I am also interested in changing the dictionary to Dutch so that not
all my Dutch writing is underlined in red and some words
auto'corrected' if they look similar to English words, making them
wrong. Is it possible to do this? I tried but it didn't work.

1) the language of the user interface cannot be changed. Office 2008 is
capable or hosting multiple languages in its resources now, but the
current versions only ship with one (different depending on your
country)
2) Office still only comes with one and only one Dictionary: The English
one
3) the installer has the proofing tools for a LOT of countries (more
than ever before now). Some only wirh spell-checking, some with
grammar-checking as well.
By default, I suspect they are all installed (I almost never do the
default install :-> )

I assume you have reviewed the Help topic "Change the language of the
spelling dictionary"?
Does that not work?

Polish is not supported. MacOffice doesn't offer any other solutions,
that's why there is no information on them. All languages supported by
MacOffice come in the basic package.
See some potential workarounds listed here, or try another word processor:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Languages.html
And please don't type in all caps. It's read as YELLING, and it's rude,
and it's also extremely difficult to read.

You'll have to talk to the seller where you originally purchased the Dutch
version. You can try calling Microsoft directly from the numbers in the
package, or trying the web site, but my guess you'll have better luck with
the original seller.

This question has already been answered in the course of this thread, but to
clarify: no, you cannot change the interface language. If you want the
English interface, you will need to buy an English version of Office.
Alternatively, you could simply ask a friend to lend you their English
Office installer DVD and then use *your own* product key during setup. I'm
not sure how legal this would be, and there are other suggestions in this
thread, such as contacting Microsoft to return your Spanish version in
exchange for an English version.
