Not that I don't want to, but this is not a classic modem (see below).

It's not a 56K modem (or any other value). It's a wireless modem that
connects using the mobile phone networks (again, as english is not my
native language, there are words I don't know in english, sorry).

Ah ok I see. In that case, it probably requires USB drivers (more than
just a simple application), and those drivers are failing to load/run
properly.

That's possible, indeed.
The light on the modem flashes as it should, anyway.
Thanks

When I want to look, say, in the "Pictures" and "Documents" folder, I
have to make 2 searches (or search in "Home" but there are some times
where I want to search quickly for a thing, my home folder taking right
now.... wait, I check... 180 Gb. Searches are too long).

True, but when something changes my habits (and there is no option to
change the behaviour), it deceives me a bit. I prefer continuing using
10.4 with the hope that 10.5 will add a row in the "Shortcuts" panel of
"Keyboard&Mouse" of system preferences.

I'm not sure...

If I remember correctly, it does not solve my problem (maybe because I
upgraded from 10.4?). All seems to be 128x128 without being the default.

Well, I was certainly too sad (or annoyed?) to look for workarounds.
There may be plenty, but my Modem problem in addition with other
problems I didn't mentioned (like ugliy-in-my-opinion icons), I'll wait
(yes, I know, icons can be changed with "Copy/Paste", but it's a pain to
do that for all folders).

Thank you for these informations, anyway.
