Post subject: Ichat AV

Hi There

Like many other Apple users ICHAT is causing grief in the form of the -8
error when trying to initiate a video chat.

I read somewhere that disabling UPNP on the router may fix it.

Has anyone else had this problem happen and has anyone been able to fix it
??? did UPNP make any difference?

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks
Matthew

Hello. I am also looking for an answer to this question, since me and my
friend are trying to do the same, except I'm with the Vista, and he's the one
getting the grief-causing error. ):, I've tried adding Aim6 to the exceptions
tab, and my wireless router's firewall is .. turned off.

Why not disable it and see if it fixes your problem? It's useless for most
people anyway.

You guys should check out Apple's Discussions Forums. There a couple
of people there (Ralph Johns (UK) and defcon) that are very
knowledgeable on this subject. They apparently read every post and
are very helpful.

There are many issues that can cause a connection problem, and they
could be on both ends.

Do either of you have software firewalls?
What about hardware firewalls?
Routers or modems with built-in firewalls?

All need to allow iChat traffic.

Hi There

I have found it is caused by my firewall in the router. However, allowing
the ports to accept traffic hasn't fixed it...

The only way so far I have found to fix it is to add my computer into the
DMZ (;leaving it exposed)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Matthew
