Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>apps, others (more info?)

1) Anyone know of an inexpensive, Mac-compatible, preferably USB or
FireWire self-powered "feed thru" scanner (just insert the leading edge
of document to be scanned into a slot), akin to the Visioneer PaperPorts?

2) Or, availability of solid-quality Mac software for the current
PaperPorts? (Their web site seems to indicate only Windows
compatibility.)

3) Or anyone who can offer experience-based advice on using a
tripod-mounted (and possibly computer-controlled) 4 or 5 Megapixel
digital camera as a fast B&W scanner?

Motivation is a need to scan a lot of single-sheet B&W line drawings
and figures from torn-out book pages, with emphasis on fast image
capture rather than quality. Willing to capture full pages and crop
desired portions later.

Fujitsu "SnapScan", recommended by someone in earlier post, although
slightly pricey does look really good, and has multiple rave reviews
from other users.
