I've just installed Fedora Core 2 Test 2 on VirtualPC 6.1.1. GRUB (the
bootloader) runs fine, but as soon as it tries to load the kernel, I get
an error saying `An unrecoverable processor erro has been encountered.
The PC will now restart'. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and
does anyone have a fix for it?

I am also having the same problem!! I checked a couple of other
sites, and this one:
<a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://www.internet-nexus.com/2004_04_11_archive.htm#108186955310395263" target="_blank">http://www.internet-nexus.com/2004_04_11_archive.htm#108186955310395263</a>
is having the same problems on vmware and connectix virtual pc.

Mine appears to bomb at the line that says:

Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

Then I get the popup that says, 'An unrecoverable processor erro has
been encountered. The PC will now restart'

I hope someone has some answer to this as well! Please pass them
along.

Me too -- I've found nothing on the Internet that helps. I suspect a
kernel configuration issue, possibly relating to video configuration.

I at one time had redhat 9 going, but I accidentally started the fedora
upgrade process on that VM and now it's hosed too. I think that altering
GRUB might work, but I don't know enough to get anywhere with that.

Did anyone ever solve this problem. Fedora Core 1 works on my
dual-boot 1.25Ghz G4 under 10.2.8 but Fedora Core 2 - no way.

Yes, I got FC2 working. See my post on 12/15/04, subject 'VPC Mac
Fedora Core 3 install?'

I also now have FC3 working. It was significantly more hassle because
FC3 does not include the option to install the kernel source. I plan to
post details shortly.
