Post subject: External monitor takes 10 minutes to turn on with G4 PB
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>hardware>video (more info?)

We have an approx 16 month old G4 15" aluminum PB,
running 10.3.x. We use it with a Dell 2001FP LCD monitor
via the PB's DVI out to the monitor's DVI with the video in
dual mode (so we have a bigger desktop). For the longest
time it worked fine. Then a few months ago it started acting
weird.

What happenes is that when you plug in the monitor
or when the PB resumes from sleep, the PB believes
there is a second monitor, but will not send any signal
to it. Then after about 10 minutes it suddenly starts
sending a signal and all is fine and everything works
the way it should. But if you let the PB go back to
sleep, the whole thing starts over again.

Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?
It's extremely frustrating.
