Hey all--

I've searched the archives and I haven't seen anyone ask this question: I just installed Office 2008 and can't find the scroll bar (usually on the right) that allows me to move through the document quickly. I've searched the toolbar menus, etc., but can't find how to put it back.

Thank you!

I had this same exact problem in Word 2008, and indeed the setting is
in Preferences, under "Authoring and Proofing Tools," under the "View"
section.

Activate the "Vertical Scroll Bar" check box, hit "OK," and voilą.

It is a mystery to me why this option would have defaulted to "Off."

Bob and Justin: thanks for your replies.
Justin: Thank you, that was it! It is indeed odd why this option would have been defaulted to off.
