I currently have a nVidia GeForce4 MX and am finding the need for a
faster, more capable graphics card. (I'm getting into 3-D rendering; and
I recently played Halo on my roomie's iMac G5--I had no idea what I was
missing.) What's appropriate for a 2002 Quicksilver tower G4?

I have almost no knowledge in this area, so use small words Smile

You probably have to upgrade your computer to an IMac with a 128 meg
graphics card. 256meg would be better. This is a complicated subject for
3D and requires condiderable investment in New Equipment. $1300.00 at
Small Dog
or Apple Refurbished at Apple. Pay attention to sales tax and shipping.

In terms of equipment, you will need a firewire dvd player, a large
7200rpm external 250 firewire hard drive, and and some expensive
software. You will still need some expensive software if you go with a
dual core MacIntel processor. I am not sure what the max on your
Quicksilver Video Card is (download MacTracker), but I think it maxes at
64 megs
for a couple of hundred dollars. Yiu have reached the time of
obsolesense once again.
